ZX81 Labyrinth was published by Axis (UK) Ltd in 1981 and is one of the very first first-person maze games on a home computer — released before the famous 3D Monster Maze by J.K. Greye. The player chooses the maze dimensions (width 3-15, height 3-9), can carry a compass and briefly check the map before setting off. The controls use F, B, L, R (Forward, Back, Left, Right) rather than the usual number keys. No enemies: it is a pure maze, with a replay of the path travelled at the end. A piece of 3D video game history, often overshadowed by its spiritual successor but a pioneer in its own way.
