Print your pixels — Nintendo's portable thermal printer
The Game Boy Printer is a thermal printing peripheral launched by Nintendo in 1998, designed to work in tandem with the Game Boy Camera (MGB-006). It connects to any Game Boy console via the universal link cable and prints on self-adhesive thermal paper 160 dots wide — turning every Game Boy Camera capture into a sticker. Compatible with the entire Game Boy family: DMG-01, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. Period thermal paper has a limited lifespan (it blackens with time and heat), making original rolls increasingly rare. This unit is the continental Europe version (CE certification, LGA Nürnberg), sold with the MGB-010 universal link cable, 6 AA batteries and a roll of paper. Anecdote: in 2020, a community of developers created an open-source firmware allowing the Game Boy Printer to be used via USB from a PC — giving it an unexpected second life.
