Tandy/RadioShack's 8-bit 'CoCo'
Released in 1983, the TRS-80 Color Computer 2 (nicknamed 'CoCo 2') is the second generation of Tandy/Radio Shack's Color Computer line, sold in Radio Shack stores and related — by name only — to the original TRS-80 lineage. Built around the 8-bit Motorola 6809E processor and the MC6847 video generator, it breaks radically with the previous Z80-based TRS-80s while keeping upward software compatibility with the CoCo 1. The BASIC shipped in ROM is a Microsoft Color BASIC (Extended version on 64K models). This unit is a 26-3127A model, European PAL version 220-240V/50Hz made in Korea for Tandy Corporation. It is the revision with 64 KB of RAM and Extended Color BASIC, shipped with the 'Radio Shack TRS-80' front plate (before the 'Tandy Color Computer 2' rebranding that would come later). The QA 'PASSED' sticker and the warranty seal are still present, suggesting a case kept factory-sealed. The machine boots correctly to the BASIC prompt.
